About Fishhawk Charters and Kayne Geddes

Your guide, Kayne Geddes, grew up in Teslin and has extensive knowledge of the waters of Teslin Lake. This, together with his expertise of boats, water conditions, local weather and fishing, adds hugely to the enjoyment of your charter experience. Kayne is a member of the Tlingit First Nation and enjoys sharing his rich indigenous culture, history and stories with guests.

The Teslin Tlingit people are descendants of the T’aakú Ḵwáan who, in the early 18th century, moved from the coastal region of southeast Alaska to settle inland along the shores of the salmon-rich upper Taku River. Here, they started a way of life separate from that of their coastal relatives. The Tlingit people represent their culture with blankets, vests, dances and songs. Tlingit recipes often use fish, moose, berries and bark. The Teslin Tlingit Heritage Centre, open from June 1st to September 1st, is not only a beautiful place to visit but also offers a tranquil setting to enjoy the scenery and learn about the rich culture of the indigenous people of his land.
